Dhaka, October 4, 2024 – The Bangladesh edition of the NASA Space Apps Challenge 2024 has officially kicked off today. Organized by the Bangladesh Association of Software and Information Services (BASIS) in collaboration with BASIS Students' Forum, the event is being held at the American International University-Bangladesh (AIUB).

The hackathon will run for an uninterrupted 36 hours, promising to be a thrilling contest of ideas and innovation. Over 3,000 participants from nine cities across Bangladesh are competing this year, aiming to find innovative solutions to global challenges using NASA's open data.

The theme for this year's challenge is "The Sun Touches Everything," in alignment with NASA Heliophysics' Big Year, celebrating the Sun's influence on Earth and the solar system. Participants include technologists, scientists, designers, artists, educators, and entrepreneurs from various fields.

The event is expected to foster collaboration and creativity, with the goal of addressing real-world problems through innovative solutions. The closing ceremony is scheduled for tomorrow at 6:00 PM.
