Ambassador Yao Wen Meets with Bangladesh Health Advisor and Attends De-Briefing Session


**Dhaka, September 26, 2024** – In a significant step towards strengthening bilateral health cooperation, Ambassador Yao Wen of China met with Nurjahan Begum, Bangladesh’s Health and Family Welfare Advisor. The meeting, held on September 26, was attended by the entire team of China’s National Emergency Medical Team.


During the session, Ambassador Yao and his team briefed Advisor Nurjahan Begum on their assessments and inspections conducted in various hospitals across Bangladesh. They discussed future cooperation in patient treatment and attended the China-Bangladesh Joint Health Meeting.


Ambassador Yao emphasized China’s swift response to the interim government of Bangladesh’s request, highlighting the deep friendship and support between the two nations. He noted that the medical team’s visit underscored the high importance both governments place on the treatment of the injured. The Chinese medical team, during their stay, visited several hospitals, evaluated medical facilities and patients, and initiated preliminary discussions on follow-up treatment plans. They also praised the professionalism of their Bangladeshi counterparts.


Nurjahan Begum expressed profound gratitude to China for dispatching the medical team and lauded the Chinese medical experts for their exemplary work, which has greatly encouraged Bangladeshi healthcare workers and the public. She expressed hope that the joint efforts of medical personnel from both countries would expedite the recovery of the injured.


From September 22 to 26, China’s National Emergency Medical Team assessed approximately 160 injured patients in five hospitals, drawing significant attention from various sectors of Bangladeshi society.
