Bangladesh Government Reopens Labor Market in Malaysia

In a significant development, the interim government of Bangladesh has taken steps to reopen the labor market in Malaysia. This move comes after a prolonged hiatus and aims to provide new opportunities for Bangladeshi workers.

The initiative includes sending approximately 18,000 workers who were previously unable to migrate due to complications over air tickets.

Additionally, the government is working to ensure equal opportunities for all Bangladeshi recruiting agencies and to increase wages for workers in Malaysia.

A Memorandum of Collaboration (MoC) was recently signed between Malaysia's Social Security Organization (PERKESO) and Bangladesh's Wage Earners' Welfare Board (WEWB) to ensure the safety and welfare of Bangladeshi workers.

This reopening is expected to boost remittances and strengthen economic ties between the two countries, providing much-needed employment opportunities for Bangladeshi workers.
