In the fourth phase of evacuations, thirty more Bangladeshis are set to depart war-torn Lebanon for their home country on Sunday night. Their flight is scheduled to arrive in Dhaka late on Tuesday. This information was shared in a notice from the Bangladesh Embassy in Beirut on Saturday night.

The embassy stated that due to the ongoing conflict in Lebanon, Bangladeshi expatriates who have applied to return voluntarily and have their passports, residence permits, and essential travel documents ready, are being facilitated for repatriation by the embassy. In line with this effort, the fourth group of 30 individuals will embark on their journey from Beirut to Dhaka via Jeddah on Sunday.

The embassy has requested the individuals on the list to gather at the parking area in front of Yapa Restaurant, near Hotel Alexander, Adib Ishak Road, Ashrafieh, by 5 PM on Sunday.

So far, the government has repatriated 150 Bangladeshis from Lebanon. On October 21, the first group of 54 individuals returned, followed by 96 individuals on two flights on October 23. The flight carrying the fourth group is expected to land at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka at around 2:30 AM on Tuesday.

In a recent statement, renowned environmentalist Rezwana Hasan emphasized the urgent need to reduce fossil fuel consumption to combat climate change. Hasan, a prominent figure in the fight against global warming, highlighted the significant impact of fossil fuels on the environment and stressed the importance of transitioning to renewable energy sources.

"Reducing our reliance on fossil fuels is not just a choice but a necessity," said Hasan. "The continued use of fossil fuels contributes to greenhouse gas emissions, which are the primary drivers of climate change. We must act now to protect our planet for future generations."

Hasan's call to action comes at a critical time, as the world faces increasing temperatures, rising sea levels, and more frequent extreme weather events. Her message resonates with the growing global movement towards sustainable energy solutions and the need for immediate action to mitigate the effects of climate change.

As the world grapples with the challenges of climate change, Hasan's advocacy for reducing fossil fuel use serves as a reminder of the collective responsibility to safeguard the environment. Her efforts continue to inspire individuals and organizations to take meaningful steps towards a greener, more sustainable future.

The head of NASA, Bill Nelson, has called for an investigation into reports that Elon Musk, the billionaire founder of SpaceX, has been in regular contact with Russian President Vladimir Putin since late 2022. The Wall Street Journal first reported these alleged communications, which have raised national security concerns. According to the report, Musk and Putin have discussed personal topics, business, and geopolitical tensions.

Nelson emphasized that if these reports are true, they would be concerning for several U.S. agencies, including NASA, the Department of Defense, and intelligence agencies. The White House has not confirmed the reports, and Kremlin officials have stated that Musk and Putin have only had one conversation about space and technology.

The investigation has been prompted by concerns over potential access to sensitive government information and U.S. intelligence. The report also mentioned a request from Putin to Musk not to activate the Starlink satellite internet service over Taiwan as a favor to Chinese President Xi Jinping

The Bangladeshi government has issued a stern warning to 124 Hajj agencies, threatening severe administrative action for alleged violations and complaints regarding their services. These agencies have been under scrutiny for failing to meet the required standards, which has led to numerous grievances from pilgrims. Authorities have emphasized the necessity of maintaining high service standards to ensure the welfare and safety of Hajj pilgrims. The government’s strict stance aims to hold these agencies accountable and improve the overall Hajj experience for all participants. Failure to comply could result in harsh penalties and possibly revoking their licenses.

Dhaka, October 16, 2024 - The Bangladesh Awami League has issued a strong condemnation and protest against the current undemocratic government's attempts to distort the history and consciousness of the Liberation War. In a press release dated October 16, 2024, the party highlighted the importance of preserving the true history of the Liberation War and the contributions of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.

The press release criticized the government's actions, stating that they are misleading the nation and undermining the sacrifices made by the freedom fighters. The Awami League emphasized the need for awareness among the people and the observance of historical days to honor the legacy of the Liberation War.

The party also called for unity and vigilance against any attempts to distort history and urged the people to uphold the values and principles of the Liberation War. The press release concluded with a call to action for all citizens to remain steadfast in protecting the nation's history and heritage.

English:

A statement strongly condemning and protesting the erasure of the history and spirit of the national liberation struggle from the state ritual by the unconstitutional government.

-----

The present government has been working against the values and spirit of the liberation war since the beginning. Well-planned steps are being taken to destroy human values and the spirit of the liberation war. They are hostile to the brave freedom fighters and those who believe in the spirit of the liberation war. Misusing the state apparatus to eliminate the pro-liberation forces from national politics, carrying out mass arrests on false charges. State has established anarchism in the country, which is called Matsyanyaya. Fed up with the government's inefficiency and lawlessness, people have already started saying, 'we used to have a beautiful day'.

The greatest achievement of Bengal and Bengalis is the establishment of the independent and sovereign Bangladesh state, led by Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, the son of history, the father of the nation. The contribution of the faithful colleagues of the Father of the Nation, the freedom-loving people of the country and his family is indelible. But we can see that all the individuals, institutions and symbolic structures of the liberation struggle are suffering from the vindictive behavior of the government. As a result of this, Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and national days related to national history are decided to be excluded from the constitution. We strongly condemn and protest against such retaliatory measures.

These include the historic Awakening Speech Day on March 7, Children's Day on March 17, and days of mourning such as August 15, recognized as World Heritage by UNESCO. The significance of these days in our national history cannot be denied in any way. No one can 'hold' us by pressing the reset button. Our hope is that against violence and hatred, all national and national wrongs may be lost in darkness, our wrongs may stand in judgment and all evil forces may be destroyed by our voice saying 'Tell the truth and walk in the right way'. The days that were canceled due to the hatred of the government, the Bengali will observe them socially and culturally with utmost compassion as always and will firmly say, 'We will come back to the banks of the rice paddies'.

The Bengali nation rejects this intention of wanting to fuel the politics of division and reactionary evil forces by erasing the national history of Bengali by pressing the reset button and the entire nation and people inspired by the spirit of the great liberation war will unitedly respond to this despicable action. Inshallah.
